Boosting Issues
Boosting Issues
Ok here we go again.... short story, drove to sydney exhaust fell off bought new stainless zorst (cookies) driving back from sydney and was taking alot longer to boost and somtimes not getting to full boost at all i am putting this down to loose turbo manifold bolts, am just waiting for the car to cool down before i tighten them (if they tighten) just wondering what else the issue could be caused by??
my intercooler/piping is holding boost fine :)
Cheers

Ben, if the bolts that are holding the turbo onto the manifold were loose then by replacing the exhaust we may have nudged the turbo just enough to make any leaks worse than they were. And it was definitely leaking.. I could see the exhuast fumes come out between the turbo and manifold whilst it was idleing.
Tighten those nuts up (14mm) and let me know how it goes.

ok i tightened the block/manifold bolts but the turbo/manifold bolts are tight, but boosting is still bad, either not boosting at partial throttle or at full throttle it isn't starting to boost until say 3000 and reaches full boost (1bar) very late in the rev range 5500 or not at all ??? what is going on? i have only put on a 3" stainless exhaust? and i can hear an exhaust leak? i have found a tiny crack in the exhaust manifold but i have been told by a few people with cracks in there own manifolds that it shouldn't affect boost like this? the crack looks old anyways??
Please help.
Please help.
