Hey all ,
I was jus wondering how much a used starion limmo is worth? am in ireland but its not to much of a problem to get hold of em. have a ralliart one also its out of a grpA rally car (i think its ex works mitsubishi) toughened with a different ratio.
am i wrong or is it just the insides id need to send?

they usually go for around 600-800 for the complete diff assembly...but that is going to be way to expensive to send to au from ireland...its been considered, prices have been found and then disregarded cause its just so darned expensive to do.

Hello irishstarion

Oscar here from the US.
I have shipped a Limited Slip Diff to AU but had to ship it in TWO boxes due to weight restriction on SURFACE shipping. Surface shipping for the LSD itself INCLUDING the carrier and the centre in two boxes was USD$150.00 Abouts AUD$260.00. If you ship as ONE unit it will have to ship air and that will run abouts USD$300.00/AUD$540.00.

The LSD unit itself I sell for USD$300.00/Abouts AUD$565.00.

I also offer several gears for them with the more common beeing the 3:90 but also the 4:22' and the 4:625's but those are harder to come by and in good usable shape.

So now you have an estimate or what to expect.

ALSO do you guys have a site I can look at ?
Pictures of your model Starions ?
I am looking to get some parts of other model Starions as Tail lights and side marker lights from the UK or Euro markets but not sure how the Irish models look like.

So post some links to the irish site if any or post some pics for us.

Oscar - how much would it cost (AU$) for 4:22 or 4:625 gears to convert a local diff? I've already got one of the big housings so there wouldn't be that much to send.

Well those are the hardest gears to locate, I have THREE (3) other Austarion members in line before you either for the 4:22 or 4:625 gears. The ones that are more comon and easier to locate are the 3:90 gear set.

But I can add you to the waiting list if you wish.
Price is USD$120.00 IF I PERSONALLY locate the part locally if I have to buy it from someone else it will be whatever the seller whats for it as long as YOU agree on the price (Use the Currence converter in my sig to convert to AUD$ as rates change daily) + shipping, shipping will be abouts USD$37.00 for surface mail 6 to 8 weeks or abouts USD$89.00 for Air mail 5 to 9 days.

What model did the LSD's you selling come out of
because i understant there have been a couple different models

alright bud , yeah well the situation is im not "selling " them as such , its jus that i have a few spare n i know what its like to be stuck for a part n not be able to get it! , eh well I have both narrow body and wide body diffs , i think that covers all the models ? i thought all the starions in europe came with limmos?no? i wonder would it be possible to just send a person the internals? r is it a case of needing the whole casing as its vvvvvery heavy! also i can give you the number of a starion scrap yard in the uk (wales) that sells lsd's for £ 70 . I suppose that goes for anybody else here that wants to chat to them , maybe ye could organise a bulk buy!

Hey that's not a bad idea! If we got enough interested we could get a half container or the likes, it'd take about 3 months, but we get them! It would cost stuff all! It's like if you move, you "hire" a half shipping container and away it goes! If it can be financially viable for 2 people to ship their belongings across the world, it can't be that expensive to ship for 10-20 of us!? Whatcha think?

For 70 pounds I'm very interested in getting one.
But it seems there have been several different types
and if you want to use a different type you'd need the axles, housing & torque tube

I could take a couple measurements of the spare open diff I have
The easiest & cheapest on shipping would be a LSD centre that just fits in the open diff housing.

Hello Guys

Allright here;s the breakdown...
If the LSD's from the UK are abouts 70 Pounds Sterling that will make them abouts AUD$200.00 Not a bad price. But the problem begins when its shipping time. I have had NICE bills from the Royal Mail service in the past that will lead me to believe that it WILL come out to be mnore expensive in the long run. I have paid 8 Pounds Sterling ( AUD$20.00 ) for shipping a Magazine. And I got a quote for 90 Pounds Sterling ( AUD$225.00 ) for shipping a set of Tail Lights !

I am just saying CHECK out Shipping cost FIRST as they CAN be missleading Specially from the UK.

Another thing about the Container... If you are NOT dealing with a shipping company allready it will come out to be just as expensive. I have looked into this as well for some AU members. Here's how it works.... (I am sure it works similar all over the world)

- Get the container Shipped to the place to be loaded
( Container Delivery $$$$ )
- Get the container Picked up and delivered to the Port
( Pick-up and delivery of container $$$ )
- Shipping the containber $$$$
- Paying Import Duties Taxes on a BULK load from abroad ( $$$$ )
- Deliver the Container to Someone's place for Re-delivery to all who order one, as not everyone lives in the same city right ?

My personal oppinion is that the LSD and bits will undergo too many hands and the final cost will end up beeing the same or even more that getting it shipped directly to your door from the US.

Guys I am NOT trashing the idea to get the LSD's and the bits from the UK just making you guys aware of the hidden fees associated with containers and shipping companies, SPECIALLY if the Sea Port is far from either destination.

Just do your homework and look into every possible fees associated with this.

Hope this helps someone.
I will try to get Shipping quotes from the UK Royal Mail and post for refference.
