Take the doors off - that's two thirds of the total weight there :)

Taking a lot of things out will make your car non-roadworthy.. most of the interior, spare tyre etc. (obviously not an issue if it's just a track car).

I decided it was easier to stick a stupid powerful engine in rather than try to reduce the weight of the car :)

I must say I have removed most of what cookie has removed and, it took me the most part of the day, although I haven't removed must under the dash yet, although the stereo and centre consoles and any other plastic trims not needed, sounds like a sardine can when i close the door. hehe
As much as i want to remove the passenger seat I want to leave it in there for a passenger. I want to get some sort of grip tape for the floor though.

Maybe I should get my scales out and weigh the stuff I removed and see just how much it weighs.

Cheers

I agree with Cookie 100%. Its harder than it looks, the Starion is just a heavy car. And then you reach a point where the last 50-100kgs is REALLY difficult - read expensive.

You're kidding yourself if you think you can pull that much out of them and still have a registerable and user friendly car. Accept the car for what it is and just enjoy it as a comfortable GT Performance car.
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.

I'd say if you remove everything Cookie has then your car'll be 1100kg..

what power increase would that kind of weight loss be equivalent to?

I wonder..

cookie when you get the rear hatch changed to perspex would you be kind enough to ask about the legality of it for road use and infrom us how much it cost and where it could be done.

hey there tmz is that a full metal alchemist gif i spy there?

i'm pretty sure theres no beef with perspex as long as it's lexan since it breaks nicely in the event of an accident. How much would the rear seats save? i heard they were only like 10 kgs anyway. also has anyone a rough idea how much weight reduction any of these mods made.

strion i wouldn't be overly fussed with the weight of the staz as 1250 is by no means lardass think of how much safer you are in the event of an accident. Have you seen how much of a tank the staz is in an accident!
That said evos and sti's now weight about 1400 and they're pretty quick.

Just think of whether what you're doing is worth it for the type of driving. Circuit car: go nuts! but a daily driver becomes a real pain when it sounds like a tin can with rocks rolling around in it :)
How fast do those doorhandles go mate!

Will do. There is a place just close by here at Blacktown which does perspex/lexan work to order.
