This has been the source of some debate in the past. However the Sonata generally is a better layout for intercooler pipe work. The only way to know would be the same engine on the same dyno and a back to back test.

The L300 manifolds tend to be more expensive than the Sonata ones...

true and true...not 100% sure on the reasoning...cant remmeber wat it was but i believe the l300 is better for a street car...something about more even power band.

I really don't think there would be any noticable power or drivability differences between the two manifolds.

Go the L300 if you don't want to go intercooled or if having a long top radiator hose bothers you. (Easier conversion)

Go the Sonata manifold if you are going intercooled and it look better.
Needs to be cut and shut. (Trickier conversion)

The best option probably would be an L300 bottom half on the manifold with a custom plentum with forward facing throttlebody (Most expensive conversion)

I had the above stainless steel intake custom made from stratch (at enormous cost) a few years ago.

I sold it to Strion, I'm trying to get it back as he didn't end up using it, still keen to know how it would go.

However if you have a JD style intercooler setup like I have the L300 manifold is best for the intercooler pipe work :D
Also there is no welding needed to install. Have a look at the L300 page on my web site http://starion.mrbdesign.com.au

Of course!

I had it all plumbed up with EF TB, Turbonetics TO4E-50 etc, but then decided to go with the 3000GT TT motor. My purple JA has been nearly 10 years in the making.

I sold my built 2lt, manifolds, new gearbox etc to Strion, now I'm getting it back for my white JA.

Looks like it would come fairly close to the strut tower.

Will be interesting to see how it runs.
