I'd just get your motor rebuilt. New pistons, rings and bearings and it'll be almost as good as new.

hmm, check out thetech section, but u have a range of upgrade options for ur current motor, then u have the 2.6 astron, the DASH motor, the DOHC, then u can go away from the mitsubishi and do a 2JZ or a rotart or SR20.. really its up to you WHAT you stick in there, its all about how much ur willing to spend, but unless your budget is around the 8-10k mark stick with the motor you have in there now.

rebuild what you got.

Or stick a Galant VR4 or EVO III motor in it. Lot's of $$$ though.

Anything else is just silliness...

There seems to be a 'law of diminishing returns' when it comes to engine swaps, regardless of the type of car :)

According to legend, if you go for an engine swap (regardless of how little you spend on obtaining the new engine), you'll always spend around $10K by the time you're finished and road-ready...

Got $10K? If you haven't, get your existing engine rebuilt - will save both time and money...

If you do it yourself you can do an SR20DET for about $4500 (not including engineer report). It's certainly cheaper to rebuild your current engine.

How much does a full rebuild of an engine usually set you back? Im looking at options at the moment.

Depends on what you get done. Standardish rebuild would be in the order of 2k, forgies, rods, stud kits etc. would add to the cost.
Ring Coltspeed or BTL or whoever and ask the question, that's what they are there for. But have an idea of what you want to get out of it.

Refer Alspos' post. Coltspeed in Sydney 02 9807 3830.
