Single Spinner to LSD

Post by SpidersWeb »

My Starion is LSD-less, so I plan on buying a second hand Starion LSD, is it just a matter of unbolting one, and installing the other, or are there complications with this?

If your replacing a 3.55 diff with a larger housing 3.9 diff then you will need the shorter torque tube which goes with the larger housing.

Also, late model US Starion/Conquest (post '87?) diffs are not a straight swap.. correct Alspos?

Ok I'll stick with JA/JB/JC models.

Thanks, I'll make sure I get that part as well. Might have a professional fit it if its only a quick job (done properly, plus wont cost much if its only an hour or so)

Install is here http://members.ozemail.com.au/~gillyfis ... tarion.htm
Click on LSD Install.

88/89 W/B won't fit cos U need half shafts to suit and they don't bolt up to 4 bolt wheels.

Almost anything else appaers to fit as long as you have the toque tube to suit it. JA torque tube is longer than JB/JD type

Or if you have JB/JD larger housing, you can put LSD centre in (if you know how of course)

Did you know you can use non genuine parts to rebuild an LSD centre??

No reason why something couldn't happen, just take some organising and some money.

Al,
How did you organise shipping? I need to send a package to the US - weighs 23kg and cheapest quote so far is $330.
4G63 - 87kg
4G54 - 107kg

Cheers for that.

I'm debating buying an NZ Starion that has the LSD, and put it in my car, seen a couple of $500 jobs lying around. I'm beleiving that would be cheaper than importing from the US, or what a wrecker would charge, or using aftermarket diff internals.

What do you guys think?

prehaps you could build a big parts canon, i live in 15acre lot so your targeting dosent have to be THAT good. just drop in a LSD and BOOM! should be at my house within seconds!! :D i can make a cash canon at my end that can launch wads of money back to you. or a brick if the parts arnt right!! :D
