How about if these news things actually had a decent question like "Should P-Platers actually be educated on how to drive before they are given a license instead of answering a couple of questions then finding out the hard way?"

Think of of the youngsters that work night shifts... its obviously a law thought up by someone that has no idea of what happens to those that DONT work 9 to 5

I actually don't have a problem with it - in fact I think it would be beneficial to have a 1 passenger only rule in place. It would stop all these 17 year old dickheads crusing around being tools and wouldn't stop people who have a legitimate need to drive late (eg. shift workers).

From what I understand, ninemsn has nothing to do with the people that make legislation. What's the point in going to the trouble of trying to skew the results when it doesn't mean anything anyway. If you have such a problem with the restrictions associated with being a P plater, then get off your ass and get a proper licence.

I didn't realise it was that long - the equivalent here is 18 months and shortens to 12 months if you do a defensive driving course IIRC.

Regardless, if you are the kind of person who will go hard spamming a poll on a crappy website, you probably should have restrictions on your driving, or at least your internet access..

you've just gotta think of the curfew in this light. they are trying to find another way to punish the majority of p platers for something only a minority of p platers do. not all p platers a dikhead drivers, although i know quite a few who are...but dont ruin it for the rest of us.

There is a website that i am a member of that presents alternatives to the curfew etc that i am a member of. Have a look, there is an article I have written up there.

In my experience (ESPECIALLY IN VICTORIA) where you get your P's from your 18th till your 21st birthdays.... ie: You can't drive alone till you're 18. The vast majority of the loser P platers here drive STOCK COMMODORES (plus or minus some rims) or stock falcons or other retarded sh..boxes. Pepole who drive the nice cars... the r33 gtr's, the jza80 supra's, gt4 celicas, bmw's, mercedes etc (evo's and starions included!) don't do anything dumb .... On the street. We reserve that for laps of calder or drags on friday night @ calder. But believe me, i've seen some TT supra's and the like at calder that leave your mouth gaping (575 KW @ wheels anyone?)

Whilst the curfew isn't an issue in victoria (it was thrown out of parliament about 4 weeks ago), if they consider it it'll cause riots. Becuase in Victoria there is a huge Manufacturing trade and if you go anywher enear a factory at night, the carpark is FULL of p-plates.

Personally I find the legislation a bunch of garbage, it'd be better figured out by having NATIONAL driving standards (not 17 year olds from the ACT in victoria on their P's etc). People need to get some serious experience in Sydney/Melbourne Peak hour(s) traffic and frankly if I had my way everyone would do advanced driving courses/basic rally courses BEFORE they got their P's. A) It'll get it outta their system, B) It teaches responsibility, C) Gives them car control. Any idiot can leave their foot flat to the floor, it's controlling power oversteer around a sharp bend that leaves most people lacking.

In summary, the curfew is garbage. Most P platers I see (down here anyway) are better, more conscious, more aware drivers than many of the older fully licensed drivers. Their cars are also MUCH better maintained... down here cops absolutely slaughter anything with a P.

You might wanna take a look at some of the cars p platers drive here in sydney. There's some youngsters getting around in some big dollar, huge power cars... a mandatory defensive driving coarse is a great idea.
