Japanese Starion Pics! (56k warning)
A few of the Starions that turned up to meet us
The middle black widebody above has this under the bonnet and 400hp. The turbo is (from what I understood) a TD72, bigger than a TD06 and is off a truck!
Inside is a homemade computer - the fuel maps are stored on playstation memory cards.
Takaharus widebody. Just lervin those rims
Now thats some DISH
The interior... Looks a little familiar...
The strobe starion:
Here's a movie of the strobe lights in action. Don't you get any ideas now Deeks...
http://www.fr33z3.net/starions/Strobe.mov (3.8Mb)
A Lancer turbo
A 1980 Minicar with monster tacho. This thing weighs 550kg, is noisy as hell and hosed a 3 litre magna at a traffic light drag rofl
Midnight run:
A massive thank you to all the Japanese Starion guys who came along - especially Takaharu who drove well out of his way to pick us up. We had a great evening and hope to catch up again one day!

Hey Hoony, are you still in Japan ?
If so, can you do a BIG BIG favour pleeeeease :P
Can you go to a local Mitsubishi place and get the Engine specifications of this vehicle in particular. They use 'Ps' instead of 'HP' over there, it should say 228Ps or something similar for this vehicle >
early 1987 Mitsubishi VX Eterna, with the Sirius Intercooled DASH Engine, should say 230Hp/228Ps or 170Kw, if you can get me a photocopy of it's specs or take a pic of it, that would be great :D
It's too prove the 170Kw DASH Engine exists and hopefully people will think twice before going DOHC and paying for an Eng certificate on top :(
If you have time while your there, search also in the late 1985/1986 Jap Galant and Eterna FWD/RWD for the Cyclone Intercooled DASH Engine, these two models should also have the 228Ps/230Hp/170Kw spec engines in them.
I can pay you for your time/hassle if you need me to Hoony, just print this off and take it with you to a local Mitsibishi dealer and ask them to borrow these particular vehicles manuals to look at them and hopefully they understand enough english to make it easy for you :(
Let me know if you can Hoony :p

Will prob let feestyler have a go at it for me, will put up a msg for Takaharu aswell and see how that goes.....
Damn wish you were still there :(
Essentially, if we prove the 170Kw DASH exists and that it was only running a larger Intercooler and a TD05-12 'G' turbo as opposed to the TD05-12A or 12B turbo than in the 149Kw Engine, then I'm sure most here wouldn't bother with the DOHC Vr4s' and $1500 or so Eng certificate :P

Hate to break the bad news to you, but in NSW at least, you need to engineer a vehicle if an engine swap increases power by as little as 15%.toysrus wrote:Essentially, if we prove the 170Kw DASH exists and that it was only running a larger Intercooler and a TD05-12 'G' turbo as opposed to the TD05-12A or 12B turbo than in the 149Kw Engine, then I'm sure most here wouldn't bother with the DOHC Vr4s' and $1500 or so Eng certificate :P
Hey Hoony, cool pics....
I hope we give Takaharu and his friends a good showing of Starion support if they ever come out our way.
Ofcourse, but then how are they to tell its doubled or tripled in power :PWill wrote:Hate to break the bad news to you, but in NSW at least, you need to engineer a vehicle if an engine swap increases power by as little as 15%.toysrus wrote:Essentially, if we prove the 170Kw DASH exists and that it was only running a larger Intercooler and a TD05-12 'G' turbo as opposed to the TD05-12A or 12B turbo than in the 149Kw Engine, then I'm sure most here wouldn't bother with the DOHC Vr4s' and $1500 or so Eng certificate :P

They couldn't even tell if you stroked it to 2297cc :D And if they asked why the compression test is so high, just say it must be carbon build-up LOL If they ask why it wheel spins so easily, say it must be the tyre compound, and if they ask about the lumpy cam, just say 'nah, its the 500rpm idle or so' just lie till you can't lie no more

Takaharu, we had a great time, thankyou!
Keep us informed of any developments to the guys cars particularly the mini car. :) Also to the 400hp monster. I want to know what other mods have been made to the interior!
Maybe get them to sign up on the forum and to try some posting!
Hope to see you again one day.
