Chris83JA, yes this is the reson i wanted an sr20 conversion in the widebody, + don't forget DOHC and all the other goodies, but i won't dismiss what the 2.6lt can offer.

st165 gearbox are shite, but i can have access to an st205 box which are shit loads stronger. In fact, my plan was to implant a complete st205 donk into the 165. It would be a fairly easy swap. the 165 doesn't have lsd, which is an extra cost.

I am leaning towrds the staz cause of its simple setup. i'm worried about parts tho.

d Sanchez, any chance i can have a look at your staz, I'm in Latham?

Yeah sure, I'm in Belconnen too. I'll PM you my contact details, give me a call over the weekend. I'll be working on it Sat/Sun.

There's a lot of debate on this site over the pro's and con's of the SR20 transplant. They are strong, come with a very strong gearbox, make plenty of power and there are heaps of hot parts available for them. On the downside you will need a new exhaust made up, new driveshaft, cut a hole in the transmission tunnel as the gearshift doesn't come through the same hole, install new engine management, etc.

I wouldn't transplant an SR20 looking for a weight reduction. I don't know how much a 4G63 weighs but I don't think it would be much more than an SR20. I know that the SR20 only weighs 9kg less than the CA18 which has an iron block.

you can get plenty of power out of the 2.6litre. i know a couple of guys in american who've gotten a 12sec pass still using the stadard injection. failing that chuck on mpi and a big turbo and they make plenty of power.
