I brought it but is it all worth it??!!??!!

Post by ajs_starion »

well guys and gals i won the auction for the starion on ebay and am currently trying to find the cheapest transport and the cheapest i got so far is 500 including gst and insurance door to door from bendigo vic, to my place near newcastle nsw.
so that makes the total cost of the car so far up to $2050 just to own it and get it to my joint... :? unregistered, uninsured, and it needs a new tail light lens and i dunno what the condition of the tyres or anything is. so i reckon i'm looking at another 1200 - 1500 for rego and insurance but are any of you p platers out there in nsw???
i really need to know how much its all gonna cost and if i can seriously buy this car. HELP MY GUYS!!! :(
oh... and does any1 have a set of or a spare tail light lens for an '82 stazza??? :D tell me how much u want!
cheerio dudes and dudettes. please reply asap!!!!

well, you've just won it at an auction, so you have no choice...

2 grands a good price for a starion, as long as it's all mostly working.

I hope you have a job though

i paid $2250 for mine at the begining of the year and it had no rego, needed rear brakes fitted, interior fitted, turbo to be plumed in, had rusty doors, lights did not go down. However did have reco motor and turbo. Providing the bodys in good nick $2000 isnt that bad a price. would be interested to see the intall on the sun roof.
Good luck

I think just cars should insure you for third party property for around $500
My TPP is only 300-400 dollars as its insured under my parents name as my licence was suspended when i brought it.

yep, Just cars, 3rd party property and theft $568/year . Unlimited Mods aslong as you tell them about it. There is a mod excess when you start to rack up a few mods.

I'm off to get my car this weekend - i bought the Scorp convertible that was on ebay last week. I'm in Newcastle too, but i've only got to go as far as Bathurst to pick mine up.

Yeah - just look for the old Pajero towing a car trailer with a Scorp convertible on it around Mt Panorama. LOL

Hey Mate,

I'm a NSW P plater who used to have a staz. For starters, if its unreg'd im not sure about the rego costs cause you WILL have to get a blue slip for it, as it will be the first time it has been registered in nsw. costs for that I dont know, but am about to find out with a new car that im probably getting.

The insurance, looking at about 1200-1500 for 3rd party for an 18yo male p plater from memory, with re-registration being around 250 when the car is already registered and ctp greenslip about 300.

Hope that helps.

CTP green slip for me was about $490, so that sux.. blue slips dont cost much, like $20 if all goes well, then the pink slip is about the same. I have to remove a defect and providing eveything is ok its gonna cost me fifteen bucks :P

Catch a bus to Bendigo, go to the nearest Vicroads office and get a temporary permit. Drive it home from there, call it a road trip. Take a friend and some beer* (* or soft drink if you're a lowly P-plater)
