Boost guage
Boost guage
Has anyone fitted an autometer boost guage into the factory boost guage position. I know hoon girl has one like this but has any one done this themselves? Is it easy? It just seems the accurate legal way to go.

You will need to cut through the rear of the dash to fit the gauge in the factory position. This involves cutting through a part of the plastic circuit board on the back of the dash. Any circuit tracks you cut through will need to be bridged. Easy enough to do.
52mm (2 1/16") guages fit in the factory position. Very easy mod... gets rid of the inaccurate factory gauge.

The factory guage does its job but at higher levels not so accurate. Anyway an autometer has laike single psi incriments the factory guage is a bit of guess work unless you are at 0, .5 or 1 bar
I want it as mine was disconnected and the transducer box was removed by the previous ownres radek and bro. And not to mention the pillar guage is only a speco and illegal

indeed.. mine is off now for inspection :'( just took the cup and gauge off and left the mount and blocked off hose there, so i figure its not illegal to have the setup for a gauge... although it IS illegal to have the setup for a turbo timer :S go figure :S

mmm, if you try and drive off in a car thats idleing down, you gonna have prob's when the steering lock decides to play.....
i can understand a ban on remote engine starters tho....
some pregnant chick got bowled by a nong's pajero over here a while back... he was still walkn out of the supermarket and decided to crank the mighty wanker up... might have helped if he had taken it out of gear tho....

I like having a turbo timer. I have a bar on the steering wheel to deter theiving low lives, but being a simple man I often forget to unlock the bar before starting the car. So I can pull the key out of the ignition and unlock the bar with the car still idling, and put it back in like nothing happened. That way I don't have to turn it off and start it again. Yay.
:o in regards to the wanker ( and the car ), i thought if an engine start was fitted there had to be a Neutral Lock out. Other wise the car would'nt start. I have had a few cars through work that are fitted out this way. Most of them were manuals. Would'nt start in gear. I tried it, mind you i was in the car don't people think???

We cant have a turbo timer because the car is running un-attended.
Some TWAT in the eastern states sent his wreck pics into fast fours about his stupidity. He was driving a lancer gsr evo3 shape I think and knocked his key out of the ON position from playing with all the bells and whistles of his new car. He was travelling at 80km/hr approached a corner and his steering locked up and wrecked a classic in a ditch!
Proffesional installation or not, A quality turbo timer should be used with a handbrake switch connected. If he had this his car would have stopped dead and probably saved my favourite style of turbo lancer.
