Delorian???

Post by Darkelf »

Just been watching "Back to the Future"
Now I think we have had this discussion before but how much does a Delorian look like a Staz? Check the rear bumper.
Delorian must have pinched the idea from Mitsu!

I'll second that, i reckon the whole car reeks of stazz, the straight lines, the air vent behind the doors, plus it came out after the starion, so yeah, i reckon the designer looked to the east for inspiration ...

sorry nope, closest 'common' car would be the isuzu piazza, designed by the same guy and older than a starion, and the delorean was made from 81-83.

I agree, it is a dead ringer for a Piazza in profile. Although id like to fit a Flux Capacitor and watch people's reactions when they jump in..

cheers

dunno if there is any truth behind it, but i am lead to belive that the dolorain that was totaled by the train in back to the future was a starion with lots of fibre glass and wood, doors didnt open. if u watch the clip in slow mo u can see all the little bits come off, like big fibreglass skins come off the doors and rear gaurds. dunno. mabey?

well the delorians were a little rare and expensive at the time, so of course for the sequels it would be easier to dress up a similar car..... disgraceful.... i thought money would be no object for movie producers...
...and on the seventh day god made mercedes.... and he saw it was perfect...
