Post by RE510 »

hi i have a mitsu L200 express ute and am looking for a bit more power, the engine in it is a 4G63 2l carby so im lookin for a 4G63B complete with manifolds, turbo etc in any condition, but if anyone has an engine, computer, gearbox or any other bits i might need for sale, please contact me also. would also appreciate any info on the similarity between the two engines, has anyone done the conversion before? as i havent really looked into this conversion that hard yet.
thanks for your time guys,

I think that the pistons and conrods are different between NA and turbo 4G63. There was a guy selling a reco twin cam head, pistons, rods, etc just a short while ago. I think he wanted lots for them but he might be a bit more negotiable now. If it turns out that you can't just fit these to your block then you could chase around for a buggered but rebuildable engine for next to nothing (Steve threw one out just a few weeks ago).

I'm not aware of anyone who has done this conversion but there are lots of people on this forum more knowledgable than I, maybe they would know someone? If not, check out the US websites as I think it's a pretty popular conversion over there - there is one featured in one of the Mischief videos. A worked 4G63B in a ute body with an open centre diff :o

thanks guys :) i thought of just switching the head & manifolds but i think it may be a high compression engine being a commercial? not sure. are the turbo engine blocks stronger at all coz i wouldnt mind winding a little more than standard boost into it :o hehe

compression can be decreased

- decompression head gasket
- machining pistons

I have complete excellent cond. running engine/gearbox/computer you can test drive in car and un-bolt yourself if you like.
