Turbo Timer and Under Car Neons...rice the baby up!
Hey guys I was just wondering about your ideas for a turbo timer. I've seen some cheap ones on ebay...
eg...
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 03742&rd=1
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 05000&rd=1
are the cheap ones worth it. Do they all do the same thing anyway?
Also does anyone know the legality of under car neons (I know some guys here hate ricing up starions buy hey).
Also would it be possible to hook the UCN (under cars) up to the turbo timer so at night both stay on while the engine cools down? That would look awesome (of course a switch to leave them off from the interior) what are your ideas....and for your next question...YES I am young!

neons cant be installed into a starion. neons are a new thing and need a 50hz DC signal to run them. the starion electrical system is too old, it runs at 40hz, so spend big and replace the charging system or put up with neons that look dull and kinda brown. this dosent worry anything else, just fluro lighs coz they need the right freq to charge the gas inside the glass tube.
I figured out the meaning of life, and since then every day just gets worse.

I always forget that DC current travels in waves
milo - neons will be fine, but the money would be better spent, and if you really badly badly need pretty lights Id go with the LED ones - the neons require a 9600V feed - and Im not too comfortable with that much voltage under a car.
Also as the guys pointed out, undercar neons are becoming a bit 'try hard' style-wise - so be careful with that :) Nothing worse than spending $$$ on your cars appearance to have most people say 'pfft fag'.
As for a turbo timer, the less you pay, the quicker the electrics will break down - much like buying any other electric appliance. Buying one without a fancy HKS logo etc saves you good money however. Plus you probably dont need a turbo timer, unless you push your turbo real hard at high boost for extended periods of time - it probably wont get hot enough to damage itself in a quick cool down.
As for the magical lights turning off when the turbo timer goes off - its do-able :)
My vote is to take the money, and get some lowering springs. That way it changes the appearance of your car without looking 'too much' and it gives a good benefit to the car as well in the handling department.

SpidersWeb is right. It's better to get some massive Alpine stickers (regardless of what audio equipment you have in the car) and a roof scoop.SpidersWeb wrote:... undercar neons are becoming a bit 'try hard' style-wise - so be careful with that :) Nothing worse than spending $$$ on your cars appearance to have most people say 'pfft fag'.
