82 Starion found with solid axle, carb, and non-turbo?

Post by BzurcTSi »

I remember reading on the old AU site about a car that was found with a factory installed Solid Axle, different interior, fender mounted mirrors, and it was N/A. Anybody remeber this or have any more information about this fluke car?

I think that was a kiwi car. Starions were available (early ones anyway) in poverty pack.
It's curious to me why the galant (sigma), sapporo (scorpion) and starion would all be available at the same time in poverty pack (live axle N/A) up to turbo (IRS, leather etc).

Zac - Post them in Show n Shine for everyone to recoil in horror.. maybe include some sort of warning. I wonder how many of those were let out of the factory..

BzurcTSi,
See my translated spec sheet reference towards the bottom of the table to "4 wheel independant". I must say I did not believe there was such a thing until ProZac mentioned it and then we got this spec sheet.

Live rear axle car was not exported. However a handfull seem to have made their way to NZ and perhaps OZ and maybe else where?

All non-US were 99% 2.0 litre not 2.6 incase you are wondering.

Have a look at this thread for the spec sheet info.

I ran a search and found the spec sheet a few hours ago. There's a guy on the US board who has an obsession with anything that's uncommon, and he's going nuts about this 82 he heard about, so i'm sorta just looking into it for him out of boredom.

Sorry for the letdown. I saw it however, the body was the same. It had mirrors out on the guards, and different seats aswell, similar to cordia ones. Apparently it was very boaty on the road, rolled like a bitch.
