You can swap back and forth between the different base's (synthetic's - Minerals) thats ok they dont require flushing.

some advantages of running a thinner oil are.

1. Increased flow when cold. (the most important time)

2. Better cooling as it's faster flowing

3. Improved performance & fuel economy (less resistance)

Its a fine line between providing protection and performance.

We supply one of the V8 suppercars with their lubes, they are using 0w/20 in a high stessed environment for 3 years with no oil reated problems. they gained 9 horse power on the dyno over a well known conventional synthetic oil.

I use 20-50W in my Starion and change it once a month, if the motor has done a few miles it's the best weigh in my opinion, the 9hp gain is based on a 550 hp racing engine, so for an average unmodded Starion you'd be looking at 1hp, hardly worth it.

I agree with the viscosity.

But always look for the highest API spec, at the moment thats SL/CF. The higher spec will cope with the lubrication and cooling of the turbo shaft :)
