Can anyone confirm the size of the exhaust port on a standard Starion SOHC head?

Exhaust port - 37mm diameter
Intake port - 36mm diameter

cookie just a quick question. what would be a good starting size with both, or is it more about direction of flow that makes the power when porting a head.

Cause I was in me cus work shop on day an he was just ripen into this head that was off an old inline 6 an it semed like he was taken about 4-6mm out of the diameter just look to big but I aint got no idea.

Im not an expert on head porting. I just went out and measured what the standard port sizes are for NXTIME.

Neverless I would say there would be to it then just 'ripping into it' with a grinder.

alot to it. my inlets are opened to 38mm and done wery well. I didnt pay to get it done as its a used motor, that somone befor me payed big dollers for.
The ports are now totally round, but not all the port wall was touched.
Ezhaust? I didnt measure or really look last time I had the manifold off, was putting the motor in and not to interested in specs. But its coming off sooon, so I'll measure then

port size, diameter, shape, direction, dynamic and volmetric efficiancy are all part of a very complicated subject. if you guys want to get into the nitty gritty of it i've plenty of time and will answer any questions i can (just don't want to get to geeky on every body without invitation)

if your game you could try some simple porting yourself i've tinkered arround a bit on a mates 5l head and we made some good gains, it's normal for exhaust ports to be ground out a fair bit most factory heads anren't port matched to the manifold opening (or was it the other way round

)
