ill leave times etc to be posted up by people who got them, was a great day even tho i didnt drive at all but it was good to meet some more people and see some starions kicking butt.

Cookie it was discussed that some of us may want to get that lap recorder thing as i remembe it was pretty cheap but is it possible to get just the incar bits and bludge off your laser/infrared trackside signal thingy? (tech term)

Great pics Steve!

Here is a site which has the lap timer for sale.
http://www.ioportracing.com/Merchant2/m ... ry_Code=TE

If you scroll down the page you will see item HL708. This gets you the IR receiver and the miniature version of the lap display which you can mount on your steering wheel. And then you just need one transmitter at the track.

My fastest lap was a 1:13.51. The car has great turn in but is very very taily mid corner. Brake balance needs some work too.. I need to get more bias to the front. I put a smaller master cylinder on for the front brakes whilst I was down there and that helped. I may have to go one size smaller again.

The engine went flawlessly.. plenty of grunt. No temperature problems at all. Oil and water temps look fine. All the wheels stayed on - thats a bonus. Car ran very smooth, no vibrations or rattles. I was very happy with it's first outing. I think I only spun off the track 3 or 4 times.

Great pics :) - Thanks for doing the lap timing and pics. Good to finally meet some of the people on the forum in person too.

I can't believe what I found on the car just tonight. In the lead up to Wakefield, i had boost issues all week. Checked the car over several times but didn't find anything. Decided not to tinker too much as I didn't want to tempt murphy's law. I still had about 10psi, so decided to leave it alone. Anyways, I was looking under the bonnet tonight and saw some slightly greasy spray near one of the intake pipe joins... you guessed it, one of the clamps was loose as! I was spewin :puke. At least I'm less dissapointed with my mediocre lap times now (not trying to make excuses - I bet there's still plenty of time to be made up in driving skill), but I can't wait for the next Wakefield day.

Will, Hoony asked me today how her old girl went around the track. You certainly weren't slow.. you keeping up with a lot more modern machinery out there.

and passing some :) . I passed a Ferrari too!!! although I'd be taking it easy too if I owned a Ferarri.

She was going good... the comparison was more a personal one as my personal best was 1:20'ish in my 86kW AW11 MR2 (beat that for a string of non-sensical numbers and letters!) on crappy street tyres. My rational was that with 120kW at the wheels which is almost double the MR2 and slightly better street tyres, I should be able to go quicker.

Now knowing that I had a major boost leak, it makes me feel a bit better knowing there was a bit more go in the car had the leak not been there. Dump pipe is off the car already and a wheel alignment is on the agenda as well as more practice - I definately don't have a good handle on the car yet. It oversteers more than the MR2 did making it a bit more challenging.

If I had even cracked a 1:19 lap, I would've been ecstatic. I don't have to be the fastest, I just like to keep making progress.

And believe it or not I was actually there on the day lol, I was just driving everyone elses cars, did well i thought too, i was all over that ferraris arse through the tech part of the track but on the mains the 348 pulled away from the satria.

And Cookie was fast but I didn't shit myself, it was actually very fun to not have the wheel and not to be worrying about about grabbing the wheel off the driver. Although even if i wanted to shit myself my arse was so tightly pursed in his buckets, you couldn't have gotten a fairy fart outta me.

Next Time I am not going to speak out aloud near my car about a track day so it can't just decide to screw me over.
Nice Photos too Cuss Cuss, but none of me hehe, spose you can't take photos of Greased Lightning..... hehe I feel a dance musical session coming on :D

Cheers
Ben
