Burning Distributors

I have had a problem with distributors that keep melting... The 2 wires that go into the unit have a melt down after a few months and so does the coil inside the distributor.... this is the second dizzy and looks like i will be fitting another one to get it up and running but want to cure this before i do! So enlighten me! ...and who has parts for these distributors anyway, appart from scortcher..(who are very expensive)!!!

i had the same problem what it turned out to be was the wires on the coil wrong poles .

......are you serious? They last me a few months, and i drive the car very hard..usually up to the cut outs every day....these arte bullet proof cars if not pushed to the edge in mods, but the dizzy thing i have heard of before but the cause has not been rectified..

If it's a stock ignition system, it looks like you may have a faulty igniter..

Yep, all stock except for a new coil.... u mean the ignitor around the dist. shaft?
