If skimming the head reduces the compresin ratio would it make sens to get rid o the gasket so it really makes a diffrence I know that you would have to skim the head to make sur it was realy flat but then a direct boltup would surly be ok if you ubolt it down tigt.
Has anyone done this before and what were the prolems

You will need to replace the head bolts with polished stainless studs and you will need to use spring washers as well to keep everything tight. Try Autobarn for these parts, tell them what you are doing and they'll fix you right up. You may also need to pick up a "long weight" to help do them up. Ask for that too while you're in there.

It shouldnt be a problem leaving the head gasket out... who needs em?
Also to reduce weight, leave off the head bolts too, that will give you optimum performance out of your engine. If you're worried about it falling off when you go around corners u can use gome gaffa tape to hold it in place. I have seen some fully sik HKS gaffa tape at autobarn for like 49.95.
Are you running a milk carton for your intake? I have seen this and it worked really well, i tried it once with a cottees bottle (lemon barley crush) and it lowered my intake temps to just 2 degrees! Let me know how you go :)

You can build an engine without a head gasket... In fact, you can build an engine without any gaskets at all.
It's not that common, but it has been done before. Last time I heard of it being done, was as an engineering challenge. I've also heard of some high performance engines being made this way.
But your engineering tolerances need to be really tight.
And you run o-rings wherever needed.
But still, no gasket.

Anyway, I doubt you would want to do that with a Starion. Cost too much, and may not be practical, except as an exersize.
Anyway, Floorit, I think you have the wrong concept in mind. There are easier ways to increase compression.... 2mm off the head will do it. Different pistons/rods/crank would also work.
But why?
That will reduce the amount of fuel/air mix you can burn. Sure, you get more torque low down, but you'll sacrifice some top end as well. That's probably an oversimplification, but I hope you get the general idea. Wouldn't it just be easier to turn the boost up and port the head?
That would probably get you better results.
Unless you were planning on getting rid of the turbo... Then higher compression would make the car driveable.

Upping Boost.

If you get a boost controller, it leaks some air from the wastegate, causing it to activate at a higher pressure, hence more boost. The boost controllers are about $40 or so.
It seems like you're not really sure about it all, so I wouldn't recommend trying this yourself, or you will break something expensive.
Which state are you in? Let us know, and someone will tell you which mechanics in your area can fit it.
If you get a dual boost controller (which allows you to increase boost at the touch of a button - around $200 or so) then you can pay someone to install it, and they can set the higher boost level to something relatively safe so you won't go into detonation (ie, break something) and that your engine seems OK for the higher boost.
Remember though - more boost = more fun ,
BUT
more boost = short engine life also.
It might last a while, or it might last a week. It's a risk. Be sure you are ready to take this chance before you start.
Starions *tend* to be strong cars... But if you want performance, and you don't have a lot of experience, then it can be quite expensive...

OK, from wat you say its to risky to not use a head gasket and it also seems that just mor boost can hurt the motor to i am going to leave it all alone until i can afford a mechanik to do it all propely
