It's tuned

Post by Barney »

Well it's been tuned. but not as much power as i was hoping :(
still a fast car though

190hp @ wheels with 14psi. on a dyno dynamics dyno in shootout mode.

The head and cam work very well as the turbo comes on hard and early, but it runs out of puff higher in the revs. The turbo and exhaust manifold were glowing red!. SST did say that the could give it more timing to make more power but that would limit engine life. They also said replacing the turbo with a HKS 2530 would be the way to go, running the same boost but with increase in flow it will make about 250hp @ the wheels easily.

so im on the lookout for a second hand HKS 2530 turbo

How about a t04? Might be easier to come by.
I saw a t28/44 combo today... looked pretty mean... on a TX3!!!!

Barney,

Thats still good power and nothing to be ashamed of. Reality is that if the power is usable its better than a big number that is unusable ie lag etc.

Well done

The power comes on very early and hard, there virtually no lag, so i am very happy. I dont want to loose that early power especially for Autokahanas.

The current turbo is a T28, so A HKS 2530 will bolt straight up. The HKS turbo on Skylines is capable of about 350 hp @ the wheels.

Paradoxx, how much lag did the TX3 with that turbo combination
