Just food for ? Currently looking at a LSD out of a datsun Z-240-260, R-200 diff, they look similar to starion, might be able to adapt to suit Staz. :beer

Starion VR4.... Do you think it may fit into the smaller diff housing (ie, JA, JB) or only the larger one (JD).

I would imagine that Starion VR4 didnt just mean swapping ceters. More likely, using the complete diff and adapting it to the tailshaft, drive shafts and mountings...
There's alot of IRS LSD cars around these days, so there are a few options, just done go looking for a "bolt in".

Nissan R160 diffs have almost identical internals to Staz LSD's I have been told. 88/89 are simialr to R180 diffs apparently. Worth investigating if somebody has the two side by side.

Has anyone ever just welded up a centre for the old cig locker??? Do the driveshafts break easily?

yeah i think nxtime has a locker for the drags.

You dont want a locker for the street, they are illegal, break diffs and wear out tyres, if i see a mate with a locker again ill try and get some video to show just how bad it is when your turning.

cusscuss, i have a locker in my galant and have for the past 6 months or so, havnt broken a single axle either :D
I love it becasue its is 100% predicatable, can get mega sideways and is ridiculous fun in the wet.

Bad sides would be tyre wear and more likely to understeer (but i have adjustable custom coil overs with camber/castor adjustment so front is reasonably well planted)

Well it didnt have a starter motor that worked in it, so thats prob y he didnt change the engine over straight away. Apart from the starter being rooted (which i swapped for the one from the other staz) and the power steering needing more fluid, there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the setup...even got an LSD included in the $900 lol.

Just have to get the interior sorted out and suspension and it will be re-registered in shiny new condition.

I like the idea of the Nissan diff conversion. I will put the two side by side and have a look at how easy or hard this conversion will be.

I used to have a locker in my car yars ago. It wasn't that noticeable or as harsh due to the IRS during normal driving, but when driven slightly hard, it would bite you if you didn't respect it. The tendency to over/understeer is increased if you are not careful. It is harsh on tyres and on the drivetrain. I would not use a locker for street driving again, only for drag racing.

Its definatly not for everyone, but i wouldnt say its bad, just different. I do hillclimb stuff with gippsland car club and loads of people run lockers. Just need to drive more aggressively and get on the throttle earlier and use the throttle to steer the car out the corner. Definatly would be slower in the wet(though plenty exciting).

As for the nissan diffs my mate has a stacked Z31 '85 300zx with the complete IRS rear end out of it at the moment... if anyone want me to take photo's/measurements thats cool.
