head or head gasket

hi people i just brought a starion and it wont start the guy i brought it off he said it had a blowen head gasket but i just wanna get the low down what u people think it builds up comp and the u go 2 take the rad top off it almost shot off so uz think its a head or a head gasket???

If the head gasket's gone, it's very likely the head has a problem as well. It could be corrsion in the water jacket, warped head face or a number of other things. The fact that the radiator cap shot off won't tell you which - the only real answer is take the head off and have a look (or have it looked at).
