Guard Repair
My tyres delaminated on the dyno and did this damage, is it repairable? If so who in Brisbane would be the best contact?
PS if you are running old tyres, throw them away, these ones were 9 years old but had plenty of tread.

Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Rubber will harden and crack over time. This is true whether it is in tyres or engine mounts or anything else. The cracks may be internal and not visible to the eye

If the expiry date of a tyre is 6 years from manufacture, I wouldn't buy tyres that are more than 4 years old if I expect the tyre to last 2 years..

In the tyre bible (thanks Mamun!)something quite fascinating that most people wouldn't get to know about:
A note on the ZR rating: most speed ratings designate the speed that should not be exceeded. For example W-rated tyres are rated up to 270km/h. ZR-rated tyres, by comparison, are theoretically rated for anything over 240km/h. This is why the Bugatti Veyron was shod with ZR-rated tyres for the world record speed run of 431km/h when Top Gear drove it at the VW Ehra-Lessien test track. Although to be honest, at that speed the tyres only lasted for 8 minutes.

I have seen quite a few tyres that looked like yours and about 90% of the time there was a reason like previous damage to the belt or a nail. When you get a replacement ask them to have a feel around the inside of your tyre with a rag and see if they can find anything.
P.S. I am aware that you were talking about the guard , not the tyre but when I saw the picture I nearly :cry: because I thought it was that sad to see and I wanted to look at it in a less serious way.
Look, I hate to tell you this but there is no way that tyre is repairable. I worked as a tyre fitter some years ago and I can say with 100% certainty that it is not repairable. Seen that happen to retreaded tyres mostley.
Ones had a Colt with retreaded whinter-tyres that collapsed... (tyres, not the car!)
I have driven on tyres a lot older then 9 years... not so very good...
They get very hard, cracks and very very slippery. Especialy when wet!
(Can be fun though)
