Door hinge pins - I think

Post by GasJA »

Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with groaning doors which has now got so bad, that I can barely close the drivers side door.

Do you need to replace the entire hinge or can you order pins?

They're a pretty tricky double hinge, the door opens through two different arcs to clear the front guard. I've never heard of anyone replacing the pins, but if someone figured it out, that would be awesome, as deent hinges must be getting pretty thin on the ground by now?

Don't replace, lubricate!

Lubrication isn't going to help if they're already slogged out though, which is the case for a lot of cars out there I'm going to bet.

Yes, lube it. You need to get into the rear part of the hinge, not just the front side of it. They're really strange, 2 actions happen when they operate.

So jam your finger in that tub of grease and get poking.

Did grease them up. The bottom of the lower hinge at the front seemed to be the bit complaining the most. :)
Thanks for the replies.

Wurth hhs2000 is my weapon of choice for Starion hinges. Goes in like crc and turns to a thin tacky grease.
