Thank you
Thank you Komeuppance
Appreciate your time
It never occurred to me to even think that it was a JA Starion also the engine is out of a JA. I was looking at sonata, gallant, sigma and L300 distributors and nothing looked the same. I never look at the simple things I always have to make it difficult for myself.
My cap bolts on, which is the same as a JA but then my rotor button is nearly the same size as my cap, a big round one, not a long skinny one like what I find for JA's.
I need to buy a new rotor and cap but I suppose it don't matter if the rotor button is round or ling shaped.

My book lists that as 83/84 year and a HEI Type I. MD066838 and mentions it has vacuum advance. The diagram shows the ignitor is actually located inside the dizzy?!

That was a great help for me because I kept following your trail on ebay and finally found one on there for a Mitsubishi Lancer CE which looks right.
I have been going crazy in the head (alright I admit I was crazy already) with this problem. :D

Vac advance would have been pulled off by whoever did the mpi conversion. And the mechanical advance has probably been locked as well.
