OLDIE at the drags
OLDIE at the drags
Against my better judgement I went to Willowbank tonight for the test and tune and driving there I had a premonition that something would go wrong :x
On the first run when I backed off it was running like a hairy goat on 2 cyls and sounding like a REX idling :(
Had to drive it home that way but the oil pressure& water temps was fine no smoke from the exhaust Get home pull the plugs 1&4 a bit black not wet so did a comp test 170,165,167,165 psi so all good there :)
Fitted a set of old plugs and it fired up on all 4 and alls well :D :beer
BTW 14.37@ 152 K'S So will have to go again I guess.
The plugs were NGK V grove less than 3000 k's old won't use them again :glare:

Zac gaps .8mm coils on inner guard on the cold side.Don't know how far it went on all4but was only on 2 well before the slow left corner :(
Am going to swap the coils 1&4 & leads to fire no 2&3 cyls to see if they are the problem and not a possible Haltec ignitor fault :?

Still can't find the dam problem. it starts and run fine (for app 5k) till it seems to get to a certain temperature and then it starts an intermittent miss that gets worse :x
1 new plugs
2 swapped leads
3 different leads
4 new coil
still to be done change injectors to the 800cc Saards that have been cleaned and tested and stored away but have to get adapters as they have different connectors to the 780 Bosch injectors.
Any problem solving gurus out there with ideas on what to do that may fix this ???

If Rob's suggestion proves the sensors fine, may I suggest leaving the temp sensor connected to the ecu in a bucket of cool water and checking at the designated temp? If it's only happening over a certain temp, and this solves the problem, then you know it is ECU related.

What I have done to track down the miss in #1 cylinder which has started to miss when starting now used to happen after app 4 k driving
1 New plugs.
2 different leads There is spark @ the plug and it is waste spark so if a Haltec fault it would /should also happen to #4 cyl if I understand that correctly??
3 new #1 coil
4 reversed #1&2 leads & coils
5 cleaned all electrical connectors with CRC contact cleaner
6 have removed and refitted injectors after cleaning & testing
7 have just done a second comp test today after refitting the tested injectors. Cold this time and the readings were very close to the hot test days ago.
Am now thinking that it may be a faulty lifter that is ok @ cranking speed when I do a compression test but not at 1000 idle speed due to higher oil pressure so the gen 3 lifters that have been on standby for quite some time will be fitted.
Any other thoughts etc appreciated

Have tried 4 different sets of plugs so they are not the problem.
The other possibility is broken valve spring/s on no 1 cylinder :( :? as I think I have ruled out fuel and ignition as causing the misfire with all the tests/checking/troubleshooting etc done to date.
