I hope so. It's a fail safe in case the normal latch and it's hook fail for some reason. I figure that the bracket will not easily pull out if the nuts/bolts/vent let go. And hopefully I'll have stopped by then. I could always add another bit to the bonnet support if I really needed to.

The littlest things can really p!ss you off.

Under the car doing the spoiler when I get a drip of fluid on my forehead. It's coming from the drain cock on the radiator. Tighten it up a bit and assume all is good. I put a bucket under it overnight just in case......and it still drips...aargh.

Anyway, pulled the drain screw from the radiator and found the o-ring is shagged...drive around to Repco, Bursons...no luck...also went to a bearing place nearby and viola, all good now.

The o-ring is 1.6mm thick and 9.5mm outside diameter if you go looking for one.

That's really handy to know the o-ring size!
My last coolant flush included adding some silicon to avoid the drip! Yeah couldn't find the right o-ring size!

I reckon everyone should fit a fire extinguisher whether you track your car or not. You never know when you may need it to save your pride and joy.

I made a bracket a while ago. It's 32x5mm steel (overkill) The bracket for the extinguisher is screwed to the bracket. When you buy an extinguisher, get one with a metal mounting bracket (and you can't use a plastic one for motorsport)

It simply bolts onto the seat mounts. My legs don't foul on the extinguisher at all. Also, mount the extinguisher so the clip that undoes the strap is facing downwards so you don't hook it on your pants or whatever accidentally.

Al have you considered selling the brackets for the extinguisher?

I'm sure if there was some interest I could knock a few out. No idea what they would cost, I haven't bought any steel/aluminium that size for a while. Or maybe I could just put up a plan on making one.

And ebay has loads of extinguishers cheap

Maybe put up a eoi and do a batch like when you did the strut brace.

Thanks for this info! I had drained the rad and it was leaking from the drain. Just replaced mine with a 2mm thick 10mm OD (nearest I could find) and its all good again!

First drive!! (with temporary permit) Boring clip but it was nice to finally drive it further than the end of the driveway. Inspection tomorrow....plates Monday I hope.

Next step done, car has been inspected and the report written. Yay!

Found my oil cap leaks, one reversing globe is out (forgot to check those) and car actually drives pretty well on a freeway.

Next step...plates!
