As most of you know, I'm always on the lookout for Starions for sale in Japan especially the GSR-V and GSR-VR models.
http://www.j-spec.com.au/
On the J-spec site home page they have a feature known as the 'Vin decode/Build date'. This essentially confirms the cars' build date and existance.
With the aid of having Vin numbers of cars I have personally imported and knowing the build dates of some of the ones I've seen for sale,
I managed to work out the number of Starions built for the 3 variants, ie., A183A (narrow bodies), A184A (Dash powered widies) and A187A (2.6 widies)
Results are;
A183A5000001 to A183A5011702 = 11702 units (Mar'88 last build)
A184A5000001 to A184A5000072 = 72 units (June'87 last build)
A187A5000001 to A187A5000798 = 798 units (Mar'90 last build) (out of which only the first 295 can be brought to Australia due to pre 1989 build date).
So, all up about 12572 units built for the JDMarket excluding any special units such as the 4wd, prototypes etc.
I need to get a life :roll:
