my car should hopefully be back to running condition, but perhaps not to full potential by then. The bigger dilemma is that I might not be in Sydney at that time :(

Well done Thrash I will be there in spirit :D :beer
PS have just Googled the maps and distance & based on 12l per 100k it would cost me app $ 850-900.00 in fuel to tow my staz there and back :( on the other hand just daydreaming and playing with a calculator 105 kph on sat nav = app 2750 rpm so if I could get 7000 in 5th = app 267 kph and don't see why not seeing that I have seen 220kph down the back straight at Qld Raceway.
PS I have a 3.9 diff Hate to think of the potential terminal speed with a 3.5

With a 3.545 final drive, 245/45/ZR16 tyres and 0.78 5th gear ratio in the W58, the gear limited top speed with a 7500 rpm rev limit is 199mph
however, the top speed may be limited by the aerodynamics of the vehicle.
http://www.assassinracing.com/tech/hors ... calc.shtml
for the frontal area, the car at its widest is 5.6ft, and forms a trapezum at the base of the windshield with the other parallel surface being about 1550 (let's just say 5.25ft) at a height of 1.25ft, and let's just say the base of the car is also roughly 5.6ft. The trapezium for the top of the car is 5.25ft and 4ft at the top, with a height of 1.5ft
So top trapezium area is (4+5.25)x1.5/2 = ~7 sq.ft
middle trapezium area is (5.25+5.6)*1.25/2 = ~6.8 sq.ft
bottom rectangle area is 5.6x1.25 = ~7 sq.ft
so total frontal area is a rough estimated 21 sq.ft
Given these measurements in a 2900lb car at 0.32cd, we're looking at a requirement of 385hp to get us to 199mph.
I'm not sure if this hp requirement is at the fly or at the wheels, but i'm going to assume it's at the wheels.
I'm about 105rwhp short of this mark, so aerodynamically, my car will not reach 199mph no matter how long a stretch of road i have. 180mph is closer to what my car would be capable of with 280rwhp.
Anyone feel like donating a forged motor so I can reach 385rwhp?

Unfortunately I will be pulling out of this event for this year.
There have just been too many silly little delays with bits and pieces and I've had enough. I haven't even been able to get the car on the ground yet and the latest bit to cause dramas is a seized rear hard line. That's just the last straw for me.
I already hate rushing, and it's taking the fun out of building the car for me. I don't want to hate it when it's done.

Just got back from Cooma tonight. Good spectrum of cars.
Fastest was a Supra at 308km/h. Second was an R35 GTR at 299km/h
However, as the event was based on time down the km, and not top speed, the GTR was quicker off the line thanks to launch control, and so took a shorter time down the runway.
Couple of exotics were there too, most were around the 250-270 km/h region
Will link some pics soon
