Any interest in fibreglass front guard bottoms?

Post by redzone »

As above, thinking of getting another mold made, exact replica of stock guard bottoms, running up to the crease line. You could easily glass them onto the original metal guard, thereby saving many otherwise straight guards from being chucked!
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

I'd be more interested in complete replacement fibreglass guards? If you could get a decent mold made from a nice straight pair I'd say they'd well pretty well. Would also just be nice to know there is an option available for replacement guards!

Although, the complexities of making a decent guard mold would be pretty intense I'm betting.

I would be more than in for full replacement guards!

Full fibreglass guard on a starion with a 3mm thickness would be heavier than the original steel guard which weighs fk all! Plus yes, expensive mold & i wouldn't sell enough to make it worthwhile..

Excellent idea!
An easy quick repair that will stay good for years. Using bog only in that area doesn't work. Especially in the bottom corner where door is.
Gets rusty in weeks...
I'd be interested in a pair as well!

That's what I'm thinking, fibreglass doesn't rust, & if you put the join up high enough it won't get leaf litter/mud rotting the join out..

I shudder to think of how many otherwise good guards have been chucked just because of a rusty bottom..

the guards don't bear any load do they? Couldn't you make thinner, lighter full fibreglass ones?

Not if you want to run them on a street car

What wold the cost of the bottom section be roughly?

Each mold for a guard would cost more than an airdam mold, due to the complex shape, it would take me way too long to recoup the cost of each mold.

I'm hoping i could get guard bottoms to sell at say $60 each or something around that mark, maybe a little more, waiting to hear back from my new glasser.
