Power ouput question
Power ouput question
Hello everyone for the first time.
I have recently become the proud owner of a 1983 Starion. I have been modifying it the past few months and I was wondering what sort of RWkW's I should be getting? Here are a list of the mods I have:
Pod filter
Hi-Flowed recondtioned turbo running 11psi
MOTEC computer
2 1/2 inch turbo back exhaust
Running on 98 RON fuel
I have recently had the timing and fuel maps done on a dyno by someone experienced with MOTEC's and I got 70kW at the rear wheels. The car goes well but I was expecting a fair amount more power. What do you guys think? Is there something wrong with my car?

ok first things first 70kw at the wheels is diffrent to 70kw at the fly
What type of motec are u running ie spark and fuel analouge or digital and is it tuned rite
remeber these cars are over 20 years old
70kws is a good result in my mind.
Mind you NSW has just lost origin 2 so im quite pissed

yeh id definately say your pretty low on kw there. you should be getting at least 90 with those mods, in my experience. at what rpm did it make the power? is it a tc05 or 06?

yeah seems very low...but, remember the big discussion we had about different dynos, producing very different figures...only way to find out for sure if the mods you made were worth it is by taking it down the 1/4 mile...

Even without a cooler i would expect more power than that... Who did you get to tune your car? I would recommend someone in Carousel (or near carousel) who tuned my car very well - Jordan Rovertech (JRT) look them up (ask for the guy who does the dyno tuning). They do MOTECs and Haltechs etc, and have a good dyno which bolts on to your hubs giving fairly accurate readings. If you get a cooler it will be even better :)

OMG, Multipoint manifold = .............. :Dmr mark wrote:do you have std injection or multipoint?
But yes, 70Kw and I'ld say something is wrong on the Motec side aswell. Basically Motec's take alot longer than the average Microtech to tune the engine to it's max output so don't expect a 2 hour tune to do much
