M&W Ignitions?
M&W Ignitions?
Guys,
Any idea what is happening with M&W Ignitions? www.mwignitions.com
I tried to access their website but it is down. Are they still going?
My M&W twin coil packs (running wasted spark) look like they need to be replaced. The car is going for a tune in 5 days so I need to sort this ASAP.
Cheers,
Pete

Yes, I probably could but for a bit over $200 for new coils and $20 for leads I think it will be one less thing to worry about when chasing power and reliability.Alspos wrote:Can you get a small wire brush in there and clean the shit out instead of replacing them? They look a tad neglected.
I might clean them up and stick them on ebay of a couple of bucks, might be good for someones project.

I agree. very annoying trying to chase ignition bugs whilst on the dyno. Time = money and dyno operators aren't cheap :D
Been there and done that when tuning my GTR last year. Ended up replacing the complete ignition set up whilst on the dyno.
Best of luck, Pete :)
Who is doing the tuning?

^ Adam from JEM Tuning at Ingleburn will be doing a re-tune. He tuned it about 3 years ago. Only changes is a different turbo they have quoted 2 hrs for a retune and a bit of extra boost. Hoping everything holds together. :D
Out of interest, in the photo above the coil pack on the LHS is a M&W, the one RHS is a different brand. The terminals on the M&W appear to have held up better the abuse (arcing and potential water ingress).

Last time it made 146rwkw on 14psi. It should make about the same as I haven't changed any of the internals. Actually I have better exhaust so that might help a little. Should be interesting.NXTIME wrote:Ah yes, of course, JEM. :beer
What power are you hoping for?
Looking to tune it up to 24psi then wind it back to 20psi for daily.
So hope for:
150rwkw at 14psi, and ???
185rwkw at 20psi ??
200rwkw at 24psi ??
As long as it doesn't go bang :D
It did a 14.5 quarter mile before. I'd like to do a low 13. As quick as Rezone's orange JA would be a bonus. http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?t=7030
