I live in a country where it rains a lot! Where is the water/dirt/rotting leaves that get below the grille under the windscreen wipers meant to go? On most cars you have rubber tubes that drain this area into the engine bay.

Is it meant to just drain out the sides, down the inner wheel arch to the bottom of the wheel arch? I ask because I am removing the wings to treat them and found a few hand fulls of soil and thinking it can't be getting in from the wheel as the arch liner is pretty snug up there.

Yes, that's right. I undid my guards and opened the gap a bit to help stop crap blocking that area up. Best thing is to keep an eye on it
