Drive fast, ride even faster
Yep, been on club rego for a few years now and the 45 day permit works really well for me, as most of my driving is during events.
Go to CAMS website, they should have a list of all accredited clubs; just pic one that suits your interests or needs; I'm with PIARC (Philip Island Auto Racing Club) because it's not a car manufacturer, or car type, club.

Jeff, does it have to be a Victorian Club to get Club Rego ?
I'd love to put Club Rego on my rally car, but its not available in SA, but I'm a member of a SA car club, but have a Victorian address. How does it work ?

It would seem that the state of Victoria is leading the way with a sensible approach to the way competition vehicles are registered for road competition.
As usual, SA lags behind everyone else in this.
I would love to have a "RP" plate (Rally Permit) but you have to be a Victorian resident, a member of a CAMS affiliated car club, & your CAMS competition licence (National Rally or superior) must show your Victorian address.
However, the alternate LOG BOOK system needs further investigation, as I reckon I could get around there rules easier. I'm considering joing the HRA (Historic Rally Association) which is for rally vehicles over 25 years old. Starions now qualify.

I think you meant to say NSW in there.panda wrote:As usual, SA lags behind everyone else in this.
In NSW, club rego means period mods. Ie; on a starion, mods that would have been done to them from 82 - 90. So no late model turbo's, wheels, coiulovers etc.
Historic Rego is even strickter!

Make sure you have a chat to a club executive before you join for the purposes of club rego. Vicroads has put a lot of the responsibility for logbooks and eligibility onto the club and therefore many Victorian CAMS affiliated clubs are either reluctant to or simply refuse to endorse your logbook. Looked at from their point of view, it's fair enough too. They're signing off to say that your car meets the requirements and that you're only using it for club events. If you get caught doing something outside the intent of the rules, you'll wear most of the blame, but the club will also cop it too, which isn't a good look for them.
A quick phone call to the President or Secretary of the club would set you straight.
