WTB :: Small LSD, Possibly Open Diff.
WTB :: Small LSD, Possibly Open Diff.
Alright guys.. i've been doing my fair share of looking around and i don't exactly live in a town where there could be alot of starion owners or even wreckers with one starion... So i need to buy one from down south it seems... Is there ANYONE in Australia who has a Small LSD laying around?
Also thinking about looking into a open differential also if the price is damn cheap as a spare to muck around on. IF you know of someone that has one then please tell them to look here at this thread.. I really need to get the ball moving on my car and this is one of the key things i need to sort out.
thanks in advance and i hope to see some replys!!

If you're willing to spend the extra $100 get a welded centre for now and wait until you find a cheap LSD. Youll have plenty of fun with it and when you get a LSD youll realize how much better it is :D

nahh i wanted to see the welds redzone. lol fair enough then mate.
yeah very true niss720, basically would like a welded diff and lsd as my options so if i wanted a bit more slide or ease on the track i could use the welded diff.

small lsds are as rare in the usa as they are here, buy a big diff & torque tube from an 86/87 widey, like i've been telling you for the last 3 months

6 bolt big diff = whole rear driveline

Yes, it can be done. I got an LSD centre put into an open diff housing, using the open diff's pinion and crownwheel. It has to be properly shimmed up though. Only reason I got it done was because I broke the LSD's pinion, it was sloppy and I gave it too much curry. :DAlspos wrote:US centres will probably all be for large diffs. From what I know, small lsd's are as rare as rocking horse poop. Unelss you can just buy a centre and transplant your crown wheel onto it, not sure if anybody has done that here, or if it can be done for that matter.
