Fail.
Trivial crap really.
1. BOV is too loud - Pfft you're too old! And it isn't really.
2. Brand new CAT is not acceptable - I suspect they think it's too small. Wankers.
3. There needs to be 2 child restraining bolts fitted - The examiner was looking at the cargo loop in the centre in front of the boot whilst telling me this. "Thats not the child restraint mate" I reply.
4. Steering play on left side - Shouldn't be too hard. A bearing or a ball joint perhaps.
It'll pass next time.

Is the cat the same size as the S14 factory cat or is it one recomended by the new cat maker as suitable for that engine capacity If it is then you should have the papers to confirm that it is the right sizeNachoMan wrote:Fail.

1. Blowoff valve - not surprised there, I was under the impression they had to be plumbed back to the intake, is this what they instructed?
2. CAT Converter - I had some info come around through the WA Monaro club a year or 2 ago about these, apparently licensing were proposing to demand an emissions test for all cars fitted with CAT's that did not have the vehicle manufacturers stamp on it's body. I was led to believe many in the exhaust fitting industry were up in arms over it, the only licensed tester in WA was/is? orbital engineering who not only charge ridiculous money but were only able to provide very limited testing time to the public (basically a govt. sanctioned monopoly).
I'd be very interested to know what they actually said to you about what sort of CAT was required to pass licensing.

Wow, I just read the whole topic, and then got to the happy ending there and realised, man, that's only like a few days ago that you got it all registered. I've done a few interstate Starion registrations now too, always little bits they pick on. Fortunately in Vic I have a good mechanic who is 'helpful' when it comes to getting it all sorted.
Nice work and congrats! A very interesting read through the topic too, glad this story had a good ending!

Well the Nissabishi has been great. I've been taking her to car cruises and car meets, and she always gets attention and photos taken of her.
I've finally really been enjoying cruising around in her.
I wanted to take her down the 1/4 mile to see what she can do, so I went 2 weeks in a row a few weeks back.
The first night was very frustrating with failed launches every single time. She was either bogging down, or wheel spinning like crazy.
This is simply because the current setup is WAY too laggy, and it's difficult to find the sweet spot to get a good launch.
Anyway, more practice was needed so I went the following week and had the same troubles until this happened...
Incorrectly setup rear swaybar + axle tramp = ^^^
I have spares so it's an easy fix. I just have to get all of the little pieces out of the diff...
