Greasing the tube

Post by JJH »

While my diff is out, I'm giving the torque tube some tlc; is Castrol APXT (blue) high performance grease OK to grease the diff spline coupler?
If not, any recommendations.
Thanks

Is that the high temp grease?
Reduce fuel costs by 15-20% & cut emissions by 1/3rd...
Increase engine performance & prolong engine life...
How?

I reckon something nice and sticky would do the trick.

Hi Jeff, From personal experience the thicker and stickier the better. I use a chassis type industrial grease if that helps.

Wouldn't mind chatting to you about your suspension set up at some stage too.

Here's what is says on the tub:

"High Performance, Multipurpose. A lithium complex grease with tackiness enhancement for improved performance and corrosion protection in conditions of extreme heat, vibration and moisture."

I'm currently using it on my wheel bearings & so far all seems fine in that environment.

Brian, would be keen to catch up again; I'm hoping to get down to Phillip Island on Saturday the 23rd June for a test day, I hope to do some more playing around with the damper settings then. In between now & then I'm working on repairs to a trailer I bought, getting the car back together & trying to find time to do all my household chores

Yeah i'd go for something thicker than wheel bearing grease
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.
