yeah i would do that.. but from what i've seen and heard this 3" GM Translator is the easiest way to get a good flowing intake for not much assing around. So worth a shot hey.

well.. this damn intake is broken where it meets the turbo.. resolution you ask? this might stump you a little as the car operates fine..

2" silicone joiner from the turbo into 2" pipe.. then from 2" into a 3 silcone reducer.. straight onto a pod filter.. you are probably thinking wtf what about the maf? i am thinking the same right now... with the turbo straight to air.. it runs rough until it adjusts and then booshka it goes! until backing off.. BUT with the pod filter ON.. it doesn't jitter or go stupid.. its fluent throughout the gears and on/off boost.. now how can this be so?

im amazed at this but my biggest concern is even though the car is running fine.. any chance of running lean just the slightest? it doesn't seem to be running rich as i can't smell anything and a mate went behind me and said there was no smoke whatsoever. the car PULLS alot harder then it did before.. and my boost controller works... so atm i only push it to 12psi before backing off. im soo happy!! but just want to make sure nothing is going to go BANG soon if i keep it the way it is? any thoughts on this no maf sensor/car running fine setup?

Im curious if i've done this by accident.. from what i think the afm only helps the ecu gather up numbers to get the air/fuel mixture right.. even without it it should be able to readjust reasonably well without it.. is this true? but yeah i dont know if i've accidently done the above trick because at the moment the car isn't stuttering and seems to be fairly smooth driving which im amazed at? no smell as such either yet.. still doing tests though but am a bit dumbfounded atm.

** connect a simple on/off (4 port) switch to the WIRING on the top plug of the thermostat housing (two plugs, upper and lower, you want the top one,)
the idea is to disconnect this sensor on warmup, then back to normal when the engine is warm.

That's where I got it from

i think i have done the above by accident.. cause i replaced the thermostat the same day i was switching over the intake.. fluke i guess? its had one hiccup so far.. but as long as you ease on the power its alright.. and yeah runs a tiny bit richer but man the power is feeling good.

alright. im seriously over trying to research regarding differentials. my best and cheapest option at the moment is to lock my diff up with a minispool or a weld. can someone please lead me in the direction of a minispool for our small diff if there is one? or is the only option i got really is to weld it and hope for the best?

this is a temporary option as im short for cash and want coilys and other gear to get her setup before some track days later in the year.. i need to get moving!! so lead me in the right direction someone?

Forget the minispool according to Dave (redzone) as nothing will fit into the carrier, jam some welding sticks into the diff if you want to do it on the uber-cheap. It does have some drawbacks over an LSD.

Take it from me though, a few to several hundred bucks for an LSD is likely to be a better performance mod on the track than a coilover setup. It will transform the car. Yes, I love saying that.

Another point as yours is a road car - locked diffs on the road technically are illegal.

man this loathes hard.. hate being restricted to such a few options.. hmm..

well there you go, i wasn't aware of that. but on another note what isn't illegal these days on a car... it doesn't get driven that much and i live in bundaberg not brisbane lol. So really it comes back to finding a l.s.d which would mean i'd have to stay with the small one.. any ideas where? looked in numerous places and thats going nowhere.....

Keep your eyes peeled, ask around at yards, put up a WTB ad on here (as a new topic).

You've been umming and aaahing for months over this, meanwhile heaps of LSDs have been bought and sold on here in that time...

Have some patience, they seem to get sold in waves on here.

yeah my best honestly is one here.. but ill prob be waiting a while for one anyway.

and yeah i know.. i just dont wanna jump in and regret buying something i could've got for cheaper.. and still do the job i want. now my options are limited i gotta holla at anything i can get... and yeah i hope so.

going to put stock intake cannister back on tonight with new spark plugs as the car's richness smashed my plugs to black and car was misfiring and blowing heaps of black smoke two mornings ago.. i was devo'd.. so hopefully this will sort out my crap idle/misfire and just means im restricted to 7psi due to crap oldschool afm..

edit: fixed up smoke and weird idle.. yeah it was due the afm being disconnected.. its a bit of a pity as i was enjoying the 12 - 14psi and what not.. i can't put original intake on anyway as the pipe to turbo is broken.. will use my silicone setup but instead of the pod filter just get a exducer from the 2" silicone onto the 3" outlet of the intake afm box.. but ill do that in near future.. the old girl can sit in the shed for a bit for scaring the crap out've me... now back onto the coilovers and differential....

The original air box isn't that bad really, and you can up the boost to 12psi easily enough, just make sure you run 98 EVERY TIME you fill up & make sure it doesn't ping.

Starion lsd's used to be soooo rare to find for sale you really are spoiled for availability these days, they used to sell for $1000, anything is worth over $600, does lummy still have his rebuilt one for sale?

Nope, the "small" LSD sold a couple of months ago. I just have my large LSD setup now and a spare centre, for quick changes between 3.54 and 3.9

They are quite rare - you don't see them for sale very often.

yeah my issue with the old box before was that i wasn't getting anymore then 7psi through the turbo... soon as i took the restrictive intake of.. i noticed big hp gains, being able to run whatever psi i designated with the boost controller and car running not that bad.. except for the other day when it started to really run rich.. dunno why the sudden change. yeah i always run 98.. and im unsure whether its leaded or unleaded so i just add a cupful of lead replacement just for safe mind..

Yeah i wish i could say they were everywhere.. there not as common as falcon/commodore diffs but hell im still having troubles finding one for a reasonable price considering there "second hand" not new. im still on the lookout so if anyone knows of any.. give us a bell.

my advice:

give up on finding one "for a good price". they are a rare item that everyone wants because they transform the car and very very rarely fuck up..
