Im trying to find photos of the rear face of a factory crank for a starion, trying to prove that the shop that built my short block put in the wrong crank

not sure what it is out of but the one they put in has a locating ring 41mm diameter and 3.5mm deep in the centre

oh, you just need to pry that out. It does come out after a bit of prying. I think I got mine out by packing it with grease and then pushing a snug socket into it with a hammer.

I had this in my crank too and theres a really easy way of getting the locator ring out.
1) Find a piece of solid round steel that fits inside the locator ring
2) Pack out the gap in the middle of the locator ring with wet toilet paper quite tightly
3) Put steel bar on top and hit it into the toilet paper with a hammer
4)Locator ring will pop right out
Random as but it works awesomely
