HELP!! VR4 Wolf 3D V4 False Triggering or Noise issue
Ok, this issue has been plaguing my car for months now, and I really miss driving it.
The Wolf 3D keeps complaining about false triggering or noise. It'll happen at random rpm, usually while accelerating. When it happens on boost, the sudden jerk is enough to rip my face off and splat it against the windshield.
As time went by, it started happening more and more, and I deduced that it seemed to happen more often when i went over a bump, even when cruising. Eventually I couldn't even accelarate.
I figure there was some wire loose, and whenever i went over a bump, this jerked the wire, causing the false triggering - this does not explain why it would happen while accelerating though. Checked all the wiring, and nothing seems to be loose. So I figure it might be that the cas wiring, or the cas itself, is damaged or faulty, so i'm about to pull the engine out (or just forward a little, thanks adriano) to get to it.
Recently, however, I had purchased some magnecore ignition leads, and so I swapped these in, along with some new NGK bpr7es plugs. Thought i'd go for a drive to test it out and hey presto, the problem was much, much less. It only happened when the car was at operating temp and had already been running for a while.
So now i'm not even sure that it's the cas or the cas wiring. Reading the Wolf 3D user guide, it says that I need to set the trigger voltage level to high for optical or hall effect sensors - i checked and it is set to low, but when i change it to medium or high, the car gets lots of noise/false triggering above 1500 rpm and won't rev any higher.
Before I start pulling the car apart and rewiring the whole thing, anyone have any ideas or insight? I really miss driving my car.

Good leads and plugs can reduce a problem, but you can still have it.
I noticed one car when it is cold splutters from overfuelling, but with new leads & plugs it cut the splutters down to about half.
Yeah, check your CAS wiring, that sounds highly possible to be the culprit with the way it behaves...

hmm, ok, so then the fact that it is less with the new plugs and leads doesn't mean much.

A few things you could try.
1. Use shielded cable from the CAS to the ECU to prevent the wiring picking any interference from plug leads etc.
2. Keep all sensor wiring well away from the plug leads.
3. Are all the sensor earths or commons bonded to chassis in one place close to the ECU ?
4. Good earth connections everywhere are critical.

What you get in a wolf is amazing for how cheap they are. Solid construction, excellent software. I wish I could afford one. I'd probably check all my earths M. I'm personally redoing my loom from scratch because I'm sick of electrical issues from moron's who don't know how to solder.

my tuner doesn't seem to like the wolf much. I have been considering going to a different tuner, but he has been good to me and done a lot on a budget, so i've stayed loyal
