What's wrong with the throttle body? What should be used instead?

the L300 one is TINY, 50mm by memory, same size as a JA eci tbi one..

Why bother with mpi if ur gonna restrict it the same as the stock setup...

And yeah use something 60-65mm for best drivability

It's 48mm, piss ant size!
Reduce fuel costs by 15-20% & cut emissions by 1/3rd...
Increase engine performance & prolong engine life...
How?

Nothing worthwhile is a direct fit, you may be able to redrill the bolt pattern & bore the centre out to accept something bigger, but the best thing to do is make a new plenum and fit a falcon tb for example. Use the base of the original plenum then fit a tubular one on top..

Or you can use a Gallant or Hyundai mpi inlet .( I have one if you need one)
The bigger TB will make it more responsive at smaller throttle openings
I've had mine since 03 07 92

My old rally car had twin 45s = 180mm of throttle body :D And that was an N/A 1700cc Gallant motor. Sweet little motor that was! Shame the LB lancer was not as sweet with it's live rear axle :x

I'll look into a new plenum later, as that would also mean new cooler piping on that side :( And if I'm going to do that I may as well get the new turbo I want and redo that side, Then re tune the car

Ah money money money .........

you didnt really have 180mm of throttle body ;)

with 1 butterfly per runner induction, as each intake valve opens, it only breathes through one 45mm butterfly.

with shared plenum induction, you have a large reserve of air and a throttle plate to breathe through, if you have too large a butterfly then you swamp the system with too much air..

thats why u can easily overcarb engines with holley's etc but it's a lot harder to do with individual throttles!

45 + 45 + 45+ 45 All open at the same time at full noise is 180, at least that's what I told one of my mates hotrod friends that was crapping on about his biggest available 80mm TB in a 5.7L V8 Rod. 180mm on a 1.7L 4 banger mate :D
