the SR20 isn't exactly a light engine though. It's still heavier than a CA18 which is iron block.

There is a guy in Timaru that has done the conversion for a sunday race car. Seemed to think it was an easy enough swap.
And to be honest, if my 4G ever crapped out, Id be doing this conversion too. Although with one or two turbos :D

the 1uz is a rather large engine - there would be difficulty in fitting in a turbo or two and keeping the car street legal..JAS wrote:And to be honest, if my 4G ever crapped out, Id be doing this conversion too. Although with one or two turbos :D

Na, keeping it legal would be easy. There is a old EX Lancer up north with a turbo 1UZ thats street legal. Only had a mild brake upgrade too.thrash wrote:the 1uz is a rather large engine - there would be difficulty in fitting in a turbo or two and keeping the car street legal..JAS wrote:And to be honest, if my 4G ever crapped out, Id be doing this conversion too. Did you get a look at where they placed the turbo?JAS wrote:Na, keeping it legal would be easy. There is a old EX Lancer up north with a turbo 1UZ thats street legal. Only had a mild brake upgrade too.
I figured there would be legality issues due to clearance woes more than anything, but perhaps the laws in NZ are a bit different?

The EX Lancer had the turbo (single) where the battery was. Behind the front left headlight.
