There's about fourteen.

Judging "Americans" by people like this is like judging Australians by Trent From Punchy.

yer sorry robert, I'm married to a yank and lived there for 3 1/2 years in the Ozarks so I guess my view of the American grasp on grammar and spelling is tainted by my experience there. My wife and people from where she is from say the most incorrect things and think its perfectly normal. For example they will say " The car needs washed" or "The house needs cleaned" Washed and cleaned are both past tense I tell her and something that has yet to be done in the future cannot be past tense. She informs me that because everybody says it it is therefore is correct.
That's not to say bad spelling and grammar are the exclusive domain of Americans. Young people here can't spell for crap. Two young guys that work for me always say " Go and get them tools" A common mistake amongst bogans here.

"the car needs washed" and "grab them tools" are slang - perfectly acceptable when speaking, since slang is not meant to be proper english. Not meant to be there in written form, however.

Unfortunately these days kids don't get taught the proper difference in school it seems - and people on a more general scale seem to care less. It's not just the yanks. you see the same shit here.

People also try to say things they've overheard, but heard wrong - that's the funniest. I read someone on another forum saying "for all intensive purposes"... it's meant to be "for all intents and purposes" LOL

I'm perhaps the last person who should be so hung up on these things. After all, I ain't even white :pimp lol

Haha, I only know about it because I saw it on here. Not sure the rest of 'muricans know of it... we only care about your country if it's got oil.
