Fibreglass Bonnet

Post by RiceThief »

I was wondering what would the cost of getting a fibreglass bonnet made for a starion, from the cost of the mould to the cost of production and time frame. Im seeing if its worthwhile doing but have a pretty tight schedule.

Bao,

With the time frame you are looking at, I would think it would be easier to get one out of the states (i'm thinking of doing the same).

There is plenty of guys around who will make a custom f/g or carbon bonnet, but who ever gets the 1st one made ie; the mould, pays the most.

Aaron,

How much would shipping one cost? I assume only a courier company would ship such a large item as well?

To be honest, i'm not sure.

One of the racers from SD works here: http://www.handcraftfibreglass.com.au/pages/home.aspx They do some awesome c/f and f/g work.

These guys also apparently do some good work: http://www.eziglass.com.au/

So do these guys: http://www.motorsportfibreglass.com.au/

There's a guy in the US who makes custom fiberglass hoods for the Starions, but I've only seen his cowl induction style hood.

Aaron I've contacted the above selling about shipping it, I might grab a couple to reduce the average cost of shipping one. From searching US sites that send bodykits os, looks like it will be at least $350us to ship one.

Alfa Fibreglass in Melbourne. Give a bonnet, they make the mould and we then have a local source.

Time frame is an issue at the moment. Maybe someone contact alfa and ask them what the average bonnet is going to cost for 10+.
Get a lil bit of a group buy going. Im sure we could get ten or more paid for if they could guarantee a delivery date.
