OLDIES 16V STROKER

Post by OLD FART »

Just picked up my Staz from Lee Thomas as it was there to fix an erratic idle that had started at the Gatton sprints It was the ISC motor so all fixed now and idles on 1k with a bit of a lope :) He tells me that the gearbox is slow to shift so am saving 4 a RX7 box which will be the next nod with the last mod to be a better inlet manifold .
He says when he was testing it it breaks traction in 3rd on a dry road and it's scarey :wtf: :D :D The tyres are old Falken RT615 225'S that are a bit hard so not as grippy as the new Federal 595RSR's
I've had mine since 03 07 92

Well I have just been 4 a short drive and given it a squirt up to the 80 k speed limit ( true) and 1st is useless and second almost the same :D :D
Have spoken to Lee and he is not telling what he has done but says the car should do ezy 11's so I may just have to see if that's true one day
Lee is a drag racer from way back and tunes the fastest rotary powered altered in Oz so hopefully he is not pulling my leg

Rad,
I think you're waisting your time with the 3.9 ratio esp. how you say....'1st gear is useless'!

I think you should put the original 3.5 diff ratio and let engine do the 'torquing'

Oldie, how much power are you planning to get out of it, are you still running the Haltech on it, what turbo are you using, how much boost are you running

I'd put a 2.88(?) "bankrobber"-ratio in it!!!
300+km/h? :D
How fast has anyone gone with a Starion, top speed I mean?

Mal Thinking about that as I have the original 3.5 in the shed.May change it when it's time to get the LSD serviced and tightened up in the future.

Fugazi I have seen 220 at QR with more in it but had to slow for the turn 3 hairpin.

Aaron thanks but no thanks .Nice of you to offer :) LOL

Next & last mod is a better inlet manifold.Would love a Hypertune but sadly it is way way out of this pensioners budget :( :(
Have thought about getting the existing one Extrude honed but that is app $550.00

There are other manifolds around (USA), but the Hypertune would be the best. However, 2K is alot of $$$.

What inlet manifold is on it now?

Oldie, what size TB is on it? And injectors?
Is there a writeup somewhere on this site with the specs of this setup?
Reduce fuel costs by 15-20% & cut emissions by 1/3rd...
Increase engine performance & prolong engine life...
How?
Click the website button below & watch the 3 minute video.

This is the exact reason why I didn't bother changing to a 3.9 diff.

The 3.5 with some decent tread should suffice.
