GATTON STREET SPRINTS 2011

Post by OLD FART »

I have entered again and will be towing the JB and camping at the track to save a bit of cash.
The entries are down and I would urge people to enter the sprints or burnout comp or just come as a spectatoras the local community needs all the help it can get to help their morale and recovery after the disasterous floods that have swamped most of the state
ENTRIES CLOSE NXT FRIDAY FEB 4
I've had mine since 03 07 92

what is date of event? I thought it was later in the year. I would have loved to come this year, but unfortunately our dog just passed away, and we have a pretty big VET bill to catch up on.

Not to my knowledge. It is held on closed roads in the industrial estate & I have spoken to them this week and it's all systems go for the weekend :D
Am towing the Staz for the first time as well as camping in the pits for the first time so have bought ,kettle, billy, fry pan, camp chair,800 watt 2stroke generator, air bed,OZ Trail 3mx3m gazebo, and a & $14.95 colour telly from cash converters so hopefully I will be ok I guess the start up cost will be recovered from the savings in motel fees by the end of the year :beer

Just about to load the JB onto the trailer for it's first ride to an event.I am sure that I will miss driving it to an event but hope to have a good time getting to know my new Federal 595RSR's (140 threadwear) on the new rims.
Everything is a compromise and would have preferred Dunlop or Toyos(100 threadwear) the Federals were app 1/2 the price .
Dave is also entered so hope to give him a bit of a hurry up :D

Finally I managed to pip Dave at the sprints and managed to score 2nd place in class after leading early by 3/1000ths of a second then being relegated to 3rd and 2nd at the end . We were all in the 36 second bracket separated by fractions & 58th outright in a 160 car field
Dave was in a different class and ended up 2nd in class
I hope that Dave posts up some video of the event.
PS Dave i was long gone when you posted so no laptop to check on the net :(

Well done guys. I'm not superstitious, but I always go better when I take the car to the track on a trailer. Err, make that most times. :(

Would be great to have another Starion there competing .You will find a good friendly bunch of people competing in many different cars

Panda Trailering the car & camping in the pit area t the event was a new experience and the Colorado turbo diesel auto was chockers with gear but towed it all well.
