Guys,

If anyone is interested in a Starion GSR-VR (widebody) currently in Japan, PM me as there is one available in the next few days.

Serious enquiries only please. It is eligible to be imported as it is a rare 1988 model, 5-speed, and NOT black in colour :D

NB: this is NOT my car, but just putting it out there in case anyone wants one. Estimated costs will be 11-12K landed plus rego and compliance costs (varies from state to state)

Anything from Japan is pricey now! You'd be lucky to buy a widey for $10K FOB these days!! However they do show up now and then!
Apparently this is a low 50,000+ km's one!

The only other widey that can be imported from Japan atm is the Jachie Chan one....and the asking price for that is 1,890,000yen...about $24,000 FOB!

Then comes the shipping, taxes, duties, fees & customs, compliance and rego costs!

Firstly, there would probably be only a couple of hundred GSR-VR's remaining in Japan that could be eligible to be imported into Australia for road registration. Secondly, of these, 80% would be black in colour. Thirdly, 70% would be automatic. Furthermore, these cars are collector's/enthusiast's cars in Japan with the average price being 650,000 Yen (over $8,000 AUD) just to buy in Japan.

I have been through this many times before, but the costs do add up. I actually recall when a certain member who was importing a widey himself thought that he could get it all done cheaper than what I told him it would cost...guess what? he was not able to ;)

If you still think the one I have mentioned is too expensive, then I suggest that you buy tri26t Phil's black widey from your neck of the woods :D

BTW, compliance is Queensland costs under $100 and your rego costs are half most other states.

Opportunities such as this do not come around too often, so JDSTAZ45 and I thought that it would be a waste to see it passed up. Trust me, if either of us were in a position to buy it, we would have already :D

what colour trim has it got? Any mods (wheels, engine etc.)?

I'm actually going to Japan for a couple of weeks next month.

I wasnt trying to offend anyone, just seems expensive when you can have 4 delivered from the states for that much.

jk,

it has the standard black interior and 16" equip 5 spoke wheels. I believe the rest of the car is stock. Unfortunatley the car will not be available in two weeks (auction).

Sargeant_khan,

No offence, but you really need to do your research before making such comments. A LHD from the USA won't be road-registrable and most certainly won't be in as good a condition as most from Japan.

If you can get a road-registrable widebody that isn't thrashed/rusted for anywhere near 12K landed, I'll be the first one in line (funds pending) :D

A yank LHD widey is a great option for someone wanting a widey for a track car etc. But yes waaay to many hoops to jump through getting the thing reg'd here.

to get a widey in the states in comparable condition to 99% of the Japanese ones, you'd be paying $4K U.S. plus shipping which is about 3K, then you have to convert it to RHD and comply it, and usually get rid of the mousetrap seatbelts!

Dont forget GST and duty. That will bring it to over 8K, then the RHD conversion...good luck.

Yes, would be great for a track car, but it would still not be a cheap exercise either way.

About $6000 to buy and put on ship only!
