Earthquake in NZ
Dont know about the rest of you BUT I for one are extremely pissed off and embarassed about the total lack of responce from our federal government to the plight of our Kiwi ANZAC mates given their predicment and intend to contact my local member to voice my concerns :glare: :x

Well to be honest everytime another country has a disaster we get together and donate to them, money, people etc
Other countries have offered to help us out but we turned them down :glare:
There's something like 140,000 damaged houses, let alone all the buildings that are damaged. We need building inspectors, builders etc... we don't have enough.
I have no idea when someone is going to come and check my house out...

Doesnt sound good Robin! Thats a lot of Silt!!!FST4RD wrote: Some of the floor in our house is getting real springy, which I think means that the house isn't sitting on the piles properly. Also managed to look through the man hole under the house and the silt is almost up to the bearers.......
I drove down New Brighton Road through Shirley today and they are the same. Lots of sink holes in the road that has been filled and sunk again!! And by the looks of the port-a-loos along the side of the road their sewers arent any better....
The floods in Victoria have been in the news here. Looks bad too!
There will be years of work for inspectors and builders here. And Id say there will be lots coming from all over NZ to get work. And maybe even Australia.... The only problem I can see is finding houses for them to stay in while they are here :x We are a little short on houses right now

Today... well we were so lucky. I was in the garage waterblasting out all the silt and a couple guys yelled out from the gate and asked if we needed any help. They came in and had a look. Next thing I know there's about 25-30 uni and high school students, all with shovels and wheel barrows!
They had been round the neighbourhood doing this to people :)
I honestly thought we didn't have that much silt, but they said that they had been doing it for days and we had the most silt they had seen! :o And this is on top of the huge pile myself and Jo (partner) had wheelbarrowed out.
Halfway through someone had a BBQ going and they all went off and had something to eat, someone turned up with water and someone else turned up with fresh baked muffins and lollies :)
I can't believe how well the citizens have been working and helping each other! If they hadn't have come along we would have been there for days!

Jase texted back saying he was walking home, unsure if he has assessed his home yet.
