R154 = strong
W58 - marginally stronger than a starion box
FC RX7 - good enough 8000rpm launches & 9.7's on slicks before snapping OUTPUT shaft!!

The few fc boxes, i've driven with have been a real pos to drive with. But as David has said before, there are alot of after market parts for them and they are very cheap. I'd consider an rx7 box if it would suit my engine and everyone you would find had been thrashed by its previous owner. I have never driven a car with a nicer feeling shift than a toyota. But it would be nice to get some kind of figures here?

PIZZA DELIVERY GUY....No more
box
Dunno about rx7 boxes , why do most of the mazda guys put supra boxes in . I know of one guy that broke 6 rx7 turbo boxes this year . Now he has a supra box in it , he tells me he babys third gear but hasnt broke it yet
4Gs Rule
can't comment on the rx-7 boxes. both the w58 and the r154 feel really good to drive with.
only issue i have with the w58 in my car is that the gear lever is too long.. if i have something plugged into the cigarrette lighter, it wil hit my hand on occasion.. i need a short shifter, but since the trd ones are 400 bucks, i'll wait a bit longer before getting one

very untrue.. i've driven a couple with hardcore clutches and some of them had short shifters as well - all were happily changing with the force of two fingers, even with the shorter throws.enthuzed wrote:I remember reading somewhere that the 154 was like changing gears in a truck. As long as you slam it in it works well...

I love to read various opinions and hopefully make the best decision if and when my box is out and find the reason for the noises is diagnosed. Hopefully it's the clutch and not the box fingers xx but not holding my breath :)
Greg what do you have in your track weapon and your experience with it ???
opinions/experience anyone else with either box in their hi powered cars would be helpfull as well :)
